Landmark Environmental are delighted to have been selected to pilot their sewage heat recovery technology with the Innovation Gateway. The Innovation Gateway brings together Royal Bank of Scotland, Sainsbury’s, Carillion, Kingfisher Group, Cambridge University and Heathrow Airport in a first-of-a-kind partnership to to crowdsource solutions that solve their most pressing environmental challenges.
Landmark Environmental submitted their ground-breaking idea after the Innovation Gateway called on innovators and small businesses (SMEs) to come forward with new eco-ideas for the business’s commercial properties.
Landmark Environmental is one of only eleven companies to be selected from the applications that flooded in from the UK and beyond, and will help RBS, Sainsbury’s, Carillion and Heathrow achieve ambitious sustainability targets across a range of property size and type.
This is just one of several Innovation Gateway Challenges that provide innovators and SMEs with the chance to trial innovative resource efficiency ideas with some of the UK’s largest companies. The Innovation Gateway, founded by RBS in 2014, has three aims; to help large companies save more energy, water and waste, to nurture new, brilliant innovations and to help local inventors take their ideas to market.
Landmark Environmental, which is based near Preston has been pioneering the subject of waste water heat recovery for some time and is now ready to launch the service across the UK. Steven Miles pitched their waste water heat recovery innovation to a panel of representatives from the Innovation Gateway Partnership at Lancaster University in July this year and is now beginning to put plans in place for a pilot which could lead to other Innovation Gateway partners also using the technology.
The Partnership opens up a wider, more diverse, test bed for innovators to trial their cutting edge solutions and, with all trial results shared across the partners, it will accelerate the adoption of new resource efficiency technologies and solutions.
